Sorting/packing/transportation: When an estate contains a broad range of items they may need to be pre-sorted prior to removing them for sale (eg. Household vs. antique auctions). We also pack items and transport them to the auction venue.
Clean out of the real estate in preparation for its sale or transfer to a new owner may be provided. We clean and prepare items to be offered for sale when appropriate.
Display/Preview: We organize and display items so they are attractive to potential buyers. Tables and showcases are provided. We often use tents for on-site sales.
Exhibits and previews are fully staffed by our company. Professional security services are available when appropriate for the preview and during the sale.
Staffing: Our staff responds to email and phone calls promptly before and during the course of the sale to answer any questions from potential buyers.
Any items that require shipping are packaged for shipment by experienced staff and shipped insured using the most efficient carrier. Customs paperwork is completed for international shipments.
Research/Photography/Descriptions: Items may be researched to establish age, origin and authenticity. Cordier Antiques & Fine Art has two full time certified appraisers on staff and an extensive reference library to assist with this process. The starting bid and reserve (the minimum price acceptable) may be established to encourage participation by buyers while not allowing the item to be sold for significantly less that it is valued.
A clear and concise description of the item to be sold is a critical factor in selling. The experienced staff may write a narrative defining the quality, condition and age of the item when appropriate for online catalogs or advertising.
Items may be digitally photographed or scanned to enhance the narrative description for catalog or advertising purposes. Listings may include multiple photographs.
Advertising: Cordier Antiques & Fine Art conducts extensive national and regional advertising to attract strong buyers. We also mail notices to past customers. Internet sales reach a global audience through online catalogs and our company’s website.
