APPRAISAL SERVICES
Our certified appraisers can assist you with an appraisal of a single item, collection or estate.  We have conducted hundreds of appraisals of antiques, fine art and personal property.  Our Appraisal Services can be broken down into three major categories depending on your needs.

CERTIFIED APPRAISALS
Written personal property appraisals are often required for insurance coverage and loss, charitable donations, equitable distributions, sale or liquidation, financial and estate planning, wills and estate taxes, and divorce settlements.  We have full time certified appraisers on staff and consultants who have expert knowledge in specialty areas.  Cordier Antiques & Auctions is a member in good standing of the Certified Appraisers Guild of America and our appraisals adhere to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.  References from our past clients are available upon request.  Please Contact Us for more information and pricing. 

INFORMAL APPRAISALS
Opinions of value or “verbal appraisals” are available at our offices or your location by appointment.  We will provide our opinion on the current market value of a single item, collection or estate.  We may also discuss liquidation options upon request.  Please Contact Us for pricing information or to arrange an appointment.

AUCTION ESTIMATE REQUEST
If you have items you would like to have valued for sale at one of our auctions, we are happy to provide a complimentary preliminary opinion.  Please join us at our Open Appraisal Day or send us an Email with the following information:

  • A brief description including measurements and any marks/signatures

PRESENTATIONS & APPRAISAL CLINICS
We are available to speak to large and small groups on a variety of specialty topics.  We also conduct “Antiques Roadshow” style appraisal clinics.  Our fees for presentations are hourly based with special consideration for nonprofit groups. Please Contact Us for more information.

PRESENTATIONS
We have given specialty presentations to many groups including the Pennsylvania and Maryland Auctioneers Associations, the Heritage Center Museum in Lancaster and the Frederickson Public Library in Camp Hill.  Topics include:

  • Fine Art - including identification, authentication and research techniques
  • Stoneware - including history, manufacturing and decoration processes and types of stoneware
  • Research - including how to research antiques and identify reproductions
  • Online Auctions - including how they work and the benefits they provide

APPRAISAL CLINICS
David Cordier has conducted dozens of Appraisal Clinics over the past ten years for various civic and professional organizations including the Middletown Historical Society, the Millersburg Historical Society, the Lebanon Historical Society, the Friends of Fort Hunter and the Friends of the Pennsylvania State Museum.  An appraisal clinic presentation is usually appropriate for groups of fifty or less.  Each participant should be permitted two items for appraisal.  Photographs of larger items (furniture, etc) are encouraged.

CONSULTATIONS
We are available for private consultations at our Camp Hill offices or at your location.  Consultations are often appropriate to inspect and provide an initial evaluation of your property and to discuss options for possible liquidation.
